WHT Calculator was built by Bhanu Bhati — an Automation Specialist in Tax and Compliance who got tired of manually looking up withholding tax rates across dozens of country-specific treaty tables.

I built WHT Calculator out of a very specific professional frustration: every time I needed to advise on cross-border withholding tax rates, I'd spend 20–30 minutes navigating government portals, PDF treaty tables, and third-party databases just to look up a rate that should take 30 seconds to find.

As a Tax and Compliance Automation Specialist with 7 years building systems to automate repetitive, high-stakes lookups across dozens of tax jurisdictions, WHT Calculator is the public version of the tools I built for myself.

The calculator covers withholding tax on dividends, interest, and royalties across 26 countries, reflects 2026 statutory rates, and surfaces applicable treaty rates where relevant. It takes 30 seconds to use and requires no signup.

Why This Tool Exists

Cross-border tax compliance is full of information that is technically public but practically inaccessible — buried in multi-hundred-page PDFs, spread across government websites in different languages, or locked behind expensive subscription services. Finance teams at multinational companies pay for IBFD or PwC subscriptions. Individual investors and small businesses don't have that option.

WHT Calculator exists to make the most common international tax lookup — "what is the withholding tax rate on this payment?" — free, instant, and accurate for everyone.

What Makes This Tool Accurate

Withholding tax rates are sourced from and cross-referenced against authoritative primary sources:

All rates are reviewed against primary sources. Where statutory rates and treaty rates differ, both are shown. Updates reflect 2026 rate changes.
